What is resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a natural substance extracted from plants. It is known to be present in elevated concentrations in, for example, grapes, especially in their skins. It is resveratrol that is the basis for the rumour that drinking red wine helps longevity.

RESVERATROL AND ITS EFFECTS

Resveratrol affects the underlying causes of ageing. A scientific paper looking at 25 clinical trials in which resveratrol was administered described the positive effects of resveratrol on lowering blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels, not only in people with diabetes. Resveratrol affects a feature of ageing called altered intercellular communication. It is not only the immune system that changes during ageing.
